Walter L. Ford was born on November 23, 1944 in Baytown, Texas to the late Lucille Ruckett-Ford of Plantersville, Texas and William Ford of Kountze, Texas. Raised in Baytown, he attended the George Washington Carver Elementary, Junior High and High School in Oak Addition and graduating in 1963. He was an offensive lineman, member of Carver's 1961 football state championship team, captain of Carver's 1962 football team and an honor student.
He attended Huston-Tillotson University and graduated in 1967 earning a Bachelors of Arts degree. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
He served a stint in the United States Army - 1967-1969, received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army and was the recipient of a Bronze Star. He was hired by Solvay/BP Polymers in 1970. He retired from Solvay/BP Polymers in 2002 after 32-years of service. After retiring, he started his own business, "The Great Escape Travels" which is owned and operated by him and his wife Ramona. Walter also manages eight rent houses. He is no stranger to hard work, something that was instilled into him by those former Baytown Carver High School coaches.
Walter is a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas-Rev. Dwight McKissic, Pastor. He has been married to his current wife Ramona Jackson-Ford for 12-years. He has four children, Michael, Stephanie, Douglas and Brandi and four grandchildren, Brian, Christian, Briana and Kaela. His hobbies are woodwork and gardening.
