Raymon Lacy attended I.M. Terrell High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where he was a four-year letterman in football and track. After graduating in 1958, Lacy continued his athletic career at Prairie View A&M University. He lettered three years, playing offensive guard, and was All-SWAC his senior year as a team captain.
Coach Lacy started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Dunbar High School from 1965-1968. Lacy coached football, basketball and track at various schools in the Fort Worth ISD. Kirkpatrick High 1968-1973, O.D. Wyatt 1973-1978, Arlington Heights 1978-1982, and Dunbar High School from 1983 until 2013 when he retired.
His track highlights were coaching Olympic Gold Medal winners Michael Johnson and Darold Williamson. He also coached Cleamon Biggs who went to the US Olympic trials in 1984. His Dunbar Track team won District team championships seven years in a row. In football Lacy helped coach Dunbar to the 1998 State 4A Championship. He served in the US Army from 1962-1965.
Raymon and his wife Merlene are the parents of three children, Raymond Jr., Melissa and Marcus. They are members of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church.
