Nelson Huff was born on June 9, 1948 to Catherine and Joseph Huff in Waco, Texas. Nelson attended A.J. Moore High School in Waco where he graduated in 1966 with honors and was voted class favorite.
Nelson participated in football, basketball and track at Moore High School. In track he ran the 440 relay and the 880 relay.
Nelson attended the University of Texas at Arlington on a track scholarship. He majored in Business Administration.
Nelson retired from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit after 30 years of service. He is married to Shirley and they have four children and seven grandchildren. He is a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Arlington.
