When he graduated from Kealing Jr. High and transferred to Anderson High School, he played football in junior high school. His nickname was Zorro. His teammate gave him that name because he was so fast and quick on his feet. He enter high school his nickname changed from Zorro to Zeke. Where he was accepted on the Anderson High football team he was put on the B-team, Coach Timmon recognized his talent and placed him on Anderson High A-team.
In 1961, Anderson High School football team won the State Championship. Marvin J. Hancock, "Zeke", was on that team. His position on that team was tight end, a receiver. He lettered: 1961, 1962 and 1963. Those moments were very special to him. His other accomplishment was running track while at Anderson High. Coach Ewing was the track coach at that time.
After graduating Anderson High School, he earned an Associates of Arts Degree from St. Phillips Junior College.
At Kealing Jr. High School Hancock started singing with a vocal group called the Satellites, the highlight of his life. His outlook on life changed when he sang with Charles Hunter, Alvin Force, Elmer Johnson and Richard Timmon. He found his foundation; he realized at that young age that without a foundation you would be bouncing all over the place. There would be no sense of urgency or direction and you would be always walking in the shadow or footsteps of another man. He felt that being in the same environment of those guys was the reason his attitude is still so positive until this day.
The guys named above helped him find himself spiritually. The church I am affiliated with is 19th Street Baptist Church. He is married to a beautiful lady and I has one son.
