LV Andrews attended George Washington Carver High School in Baytown, Texas where he was a versatile athlete. He was born in Baytown, Texas to Leola and Booker T. Andrews. He was a member of the 1961 PVIL 3A Championship football team. He graduated from Carver in 1962 and attended Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern University.
After college, LV worked for Exxon Chemical for 32 years before retiring in 2003.
LV has been married to Johnnie Mae Andrews for 52 years. They have three children and four grandchildren. He is a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas.
