Clifford Miller, Jr. was born in Mexia, Texas. He graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1951. He is the son of Clifford Miller, Sr., the former coach of the Wheatley Lions.
Clifford lettered in three different sports. He was the Wheatley quarterback and he played point guard in basketball. He was a sprinter, hurdler and broad jumper. Clifford was awarded a football scholarship to Texas College in Tyler, Texas. He played quarterback for three years. In 1954, he joined the Air Force, where he served honorably for fourteen years.
He graduated from St. Mary's University in 1978, with a degree in Microbiology. He retired from government service after 32 years of service. He then moved to Denton, Texas where he worked for Presbyterian Hospital for thirteen years.
