Charles Edward Roberts was born in Jasper, Texas and attended Rowe High School. He was All-District in football holding the position of fullback and linebacker. He also threw the shotput in track. Charles was captain of the football team in 1965 and a four year letterman under the leadership of Coach Thomas Jack Belinger.
He graduated from Rowe High School in 1965 and accepted a football scholarship to Wiley College under the leadership of the legendary Pop Long. Charles worked for Harrison Equipment Company for 22 years.
He is married to Cassandra McGill Roberts and has six children: Charles Jr. (deceased), Pamela, Charleslynn, Corey, Angela and Sacajawea and seven grandchildren. Charles attends Moore Chapel C.M.E. Church, Jasper, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. Gary Chalk.
