Lish Dan (LD) Taylor was a multi-talented athlete at Gibbons High in Paris, Texas where he began his coaching career in tennis and basketball. After having starred in football, he went to Texas College as a brilliant pass-catching end the Texas Steers.
L. D. coached both boys and girls tennis, winning 2 state championships in the boys division and four in the girls division. He also won four boys and five girls district titles along with 5 boys titles in basketball.
From Paris, LD went to Dunbar Lufkin where he won 3 district championships in basketball and six in tennis including one at Charlton Pollard in Beaumont. He won five state titles in Lufkin.
We are proud to induct Lish Dan Taylor into the African American Coaches Association (TAACA) 2001 Hall of Honor.
