The late Coach Ras Earl Dancy, Sr. attended Booker T. Washington High School in Marlin, Texas and then went to Huston Tillotson, Paul Quinn and Prairie View where he participated in football, baseball and track.
He received his bachelor's degree from Paul Quinn and his master's from Prairie View. He coached at Booker T. Washington in Marlin where he won three district 3A titles in football ('61, '64 and '65 plus three times district runner-up ('62, '63 and '66) in football. In addition he was a state finalist in football in '61 and '64. Coach Dancy was nominated CTA Administrator of the Year, All District Coach and Marlin's Man of the Year. He has helped some 30 athletes get scholarships along with helping the great all-pro Joe Green to enroll at then North Texas State University. His records of 70 wins and only 15 losses plus one tie deems him worthy of being inducted into TAACA on this 27th day of July, 1999.
