Coach Lester G. Broadus, Jr. graduated from Douglas High School in Denton where he participated in football and baseball. He then attended Prairie View A&M to get his B5 and MS degrees while continuing his outstanding athletic career in football. He did additional study at Tarleton State where he earned mid-management certification.
Coach Broadus began his coaching career in 1957 at Douglas High in Cleveland, Texas and then moved to Carver High in Waco. He followed that with a stint at LaVega High and then moved on to University High in Waco where he was well known for instilling pride, loyalty, a sense of fair play and a will to win in his athletes. In 1964, he was honored as Coach of the Year in baseball in the old Prairie View League plus North Zone Coach of the Year in the UIL in 1975. His memberships include TAACA and THSCA. His win loss record is 142 wins and only 75 losses. While serving Uncle Sam in Europe, he made the All-EuropeTeam as a fullback.
