Coach Bishop W. Williams attended G. W. Carver High School in McGregor, Texas. He also attended Solomon Coles High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was an outstanding participant in football and track. He then went to college at Huston Tillotson in Austin and starred in basketball. Coach Bishop was not only outstanding in athletics but was recognized in the scientific arena as an NSF Research and Project Physics certified researcher. He received his MS and administrator certification from Prairie View A&M and presented a scientific paper to the Texas Academy of Science in 1969.

Coach Williams coached from 1949 to 1968 at Booker T. Washington High School in Marlin where one of his fondest memories includes being carried off the field on the shoulders of his players and dashed with ice water during victory celebrations. He also served as head basketball and track coach and assisted in football for three years.

The Texas African American Coaches Association is honored to enshrine Coach Bishop Williams in the TAACA Hall of Honor.
