Coach Randolph Reed graduated from Oaklawn High School in Waxahachie, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Paul Quinn College where he starred in football. Coach Reed did further study at Texas Southern, Prairie View and the University of Texas at Arlington.
His entire coaching career began in 1955 and ended in 1980 at Dalworth High School in Grand Prairie, Texas where he produced two All-Americans and an NFL Rookie of the Year, as well as Hall of Famer, Charlie Taylor. He also was selected Coach of the Year in 1959 and won a district basketball championship his first year of coaching. Coach Reed was voted MVP in a west coast armed forces championship game in 1949. His coaching career ended in 1980 with a record of 79-40-1. One of his All-Americans coached for the Washington Redskins in the NFL and has a park named after him in Grand Prairie. The Texas African American Coaches Association is proud to induct Coach Randolph Reed Hall of Honor whose membership includes the Texas High School Coaches Association, the Prairie View Coaches Association and now TAACA..
