Coach Johnny Kennard graduated from I.M. Terrell High School where he starred in football and baseball. He continued his brilliant athletic career in football at Prairie View and his educational pursuits at Tarleton State University where he received his masters degree in education. As an athlete, Johnny played center on some of Prairie View's finest championships teams.
Coach Kennard's coaching experiences began at C.B. Dansby High School in Kilgore, Texas, followed by stints at Dunbar Junior-Senior High, Dunbar Senior High And Poly High School. He was well respected for his classroom discipline which eventually earned him an administrative position as Assistant Principal of Poly and Principal of O.W. Wyatt High School. The contribution he has made in football, track, basketball and baseball, all in the Fort Worth School District has touched the lives of many student athletes and he has maintained membership in several professional organizations including the TAACA and the East Texas Coaches Association. Upon his retirement from coaching, the coaching fraternity lost one of its most valuable contributors. The TAACA is delighted to welcome Coach Johnny Kennard into our Hall of Honor.
