Lonnie Lee Jackson, Jr. was born in Dallas, TX Nov. 11, 1926. His mother is Adelaide Boulden. His father is Lonnie Lee Jackson Sr. Adelaide is from Brenham, TX and Lonnie Sr. is from Austin, TX. Lonnie Sr. and Adelaide were married in Dallas. He lived in North Dallas for five years with his parents. The parents were divorced and his mother took him to Los Angeles, CA for a year. He was brought to Austin , TX in 1931. He started public school at Olive St. Elementary and completed the first grade. His mother married Alexander Wayman Harvey and they moved to Waco, TX . He went to the elementary school that was housed in the Moore High School building. His parents moved to San Antonio, TX in 1935. In San Antonio, TX he went to Booker T. Washington Elementary, Douglas Jr. High and Phillis Wheatly High School. His parents moved to Austin, TX in December, 1941 where he enrolled in Anderson High School. After graduation he was drafted into the United Stales Navy. Upon discharge he enrolled in Samuel Huston College in Austin, TX. and graduated in 1951 with a B.S. degree.
He is married to Ida Barton Jackson. They have three children: Daughter Shirleta Merle Jackson is employed as a teacher in the AISD. William Boulden Jackson is employed as a teacher and Track Coach in the VISD (Victoria, TX). K.C. is Jackson employed in law enforcement in the city of Victoria, TX.
Coach Jackson is the recipient of a number of awards and recognition plaques and he belongs to a host of professional organizations. He organized the first athletic program at Halletsville Colored High School in 1951 where he began his coaching career. Other schools include Barefield High School, Refugio H.S. Anderson H.S., and Crockett H.S. We are proud to induct Coach Jackson into our Hall of Honor.
