The late Roy Hutchins coached his entire 24 years in Baytown, Texas. He received his B.S. and M.A. Degrees from Texas Southern University. Coach Hutchins coached at George W. Carver, Cedar Bayou Junior High School and Robert E. Lee Senior High School. His work with his student athletes enabled him to assist in getting scholarships for outstanding college and professional athletes including Leon Carr, Gene Washington, Heron Tibbes and many others. He was a member of several professional organizations, a scholar and a Christian gentleman.
His track teams won two state championships and was an assistant on one state football championship.
