Arthur Gillum attended George Washington Carver High School where he started in football, basketball, and track. He continued his outstanding athletic career at Prairie View University in football. He received his BS degree in 1960 and MS in 1967. He retired from coaching in 1968 and became an outstanding administrator in the Dallas Public School. His coaching career includes 31 wins and 18 losses at S.W. Jackson H.S. and a 10 and 19 record at Pinkston H.S. in Dallas.
Among the many organizations to which he belongs include, the Afro-American Coaching Association, Texas Association of Secondary School Principles, National Association of Secondary School Principles, Dallas School Administration Association, the PHI Delta Professional Fraternity and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
The TAACA considers it a unique honor to induct Coach Gillum into its Hall of Honor.
