Lester J. Beene was born in Haynesville, Louisiana. He graduated from Carver High School and received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. He has done post graduate study at Lane University in Jackson, Tennessee, and Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. He received the Masters of Arts degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. He also received administrative certification from Tarleton State Univerity. Presently, he is serving as vice-principal of the Dunbar 5th/6th Grade School.
Lester Beene was named basketball "Coach of the Year" in the state of Texas by the Texas Southern University Ex-Student and Ex-Letterman Association for the school years 1960-1961 and 1963-1964.
In 1969, he was named "Coach of the Year" in football in District AA-11. In 1971, he was named "Big Coach of the Decade" by the Kirkpatrick Quarterback Club. Also in 1971, he was honored by the honorable Mayor R. M. Stovall of Fort Worth by declaring May 19th as "Kirkpatrick Coaches Day."
During the school year of 1976-1977, Lester Beene was honored by Project Business, a division of Junior Achievement, for motivation and leadership of students in developing a better understanding of the American business system.
Lester Beene is a certified official with the Golden Gloves youth organization, an affiliate with the Amateur Boxing Federation. This is an international organization that establishes rules governing amateur boxing. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastside YMCA.
He is a member of the Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as chairman of the Trustee Board, a member of the Board of Deacons, Men's Sunday School Class, and vice-president of the Male Chorus.
He is married to the former Ida Hubbard of Fort Worth. They have one daughter, Pamela Beene Williams of San Antonio, Texas, one grandson, Mark, and one grand-daughter, Kimberly.
